Spontaneity

Spontaneously one day, I decided I wanted to go on a trip to a country in which I could help other families in a local village. My first goal was to do Schools for Schools in Africa, which is a program that helps to provide kids around the world with school funding, supplies, and increasing the importance of education. I felt that that was a great option, but needed a lot of planning. (Still in the works for Summer '10)!!! I had heard about Habitat for Humanity's Global Village program through our family friends, Katie and Dave Fey.

After looking into the Global Village program, I found out how much they offer to families in need all around the world. I wanted to do this tirp, and I wanted to do it NOW! :) I worked it around my summer/teaching schedule. There were two places I wanted to go: Thailand and Botswana. Long story short, I applied and got accepted!! On April 19, 2009, I was accepted for both programs. After talking to several team leaders and discussing both areas, I knew either place would be a wonderful fit. Due to the short notice, I had to think about costs, flights, vaccinations, and most importantly, how I would be able to afford this trip! After A LOT of debating........

Where was I headed?????? Phuket, Thailand!!! .......The Land of Smiles
